Saare-Liivi Offshore Wind Farm received an important funding decision

The Saare-Liivi offshore wind farm has received an important funding decision from the 2023 CEF Energy cross-border renewable energy projects call.

The project aims to build an offshore wind farm in Estonian coastal waters by 2030. To implement this ambitious plan, the project has received a €10 million CEF grant. The support will be used to carry out technical studies, including environmental impact assessments, geotechnical and geophysical surveys, and preparations for obtaining necessary permits.

The cross-border renewable energy window under CEF Energy promotes cross-border cooperation between Member States in the field of planning, development and the cost-effective exploitation of renewable energy sources, as well as facilitate their integration through energy storage facilities and with the aim of contributing to the Union’s long term decarbonisation strategy, completing the internal energy market and enhancing the security of supply.

The Saare-Liivi offshore wind farm is an important step in the development of Estonian renewable energy sector and will make a significant contribution to strengthening our energy security. We thank everyone who has contributed to the successful development of this project. Together, we are moving towards a cleaner and more sustainable future.
