The Finnish wind energy service provider Arenso Oy and a leading Estonia-based renewable energy developer and producer Utilitas Wind have signed an agreement for co-operation in Saare-Liivi Offshore Wind Park project. Arenso was assigned to prepare Basic Design for the project. The work was launched in February and will be completed by the end of July 2025.<\/p>\n

The purpose of Arenso\u2019s and Utilitas Wind\u2019s co-operation is to prepare a Basic Design package for future design phases, permitting tasks, planning of construction work and operation.<\/p>\n

\u201e We believe Estonia holds great potential for offshore wind energy. Developing offshore wind power would help lower electricity prices, enhance supply security by reducing reliance on costly and polluting fossil fuels, and significantly contribute to reducing the production deficit across the Baltic region. \u201cArenso brings its proven, hands-on expertise of Northern Baltic Sea offshore wind energy to the Saare-Liivi project, laying the groundwork for a technically optimized and competitive wind farm implementation. Utilitas Wind, as a leading wind energy player in the Baltic states, is a strategically important customer for Arenso. The agreement is also a ground-breaking step in importing Finnish knowhow to offshore wind projects globally,\u201d says Esa Holttinen, Business Director at Arenso Oy.<\/p>\n

Utilitas Wind is moving forward with planning and design activities that would allow the Saare-Liivi offshore wind farm to produce environmentally friendly electricity. According to the technical conditions issued by the grid company, approximately 80 wind turbines are planned to be erected in the first stage of the development, with a total capacity of 1,200 MW. Expected annual electricity production exceeding 5 TWh. The project is co-funded by The European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency.<\/p>\n

Utilitas Wind O\u00dc<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Utilitas is the largest renewable energy producer and district heating company in Estonia, and the largest wind energy producer in Latvia. In 2024, Utilitas produced 2.6 TWh of energy and 71% of it was produced from renewable sources. Utilitas is moving towards carbon neutrality by building new renewable energy production capacities in the region, investing in solar and wind energy, and implementing the first green hydrogen pilot project.<\/em><\/p>\n

Arenso Oy \u2013 Arctic Energy Solutions<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Arenso Oy, based in Finland, provides end-to-end wind energy services. Working independently of solution suppliers and contractors, Arenso helps its customers implement sustainable and effective renewable energy projects. Arenso\u2019s team of experts has over twenty years of experience in wind energy projects from development to construction, operation and maintenance and the dismantling and recycling of wind farms.\u202f<\/em><\/p>\n

Arenso Oy was founded in 2024 in connection with the demerger of Suomen Hy\u00f6tytuuli, when the personnel of Suomen Hy\u00f6tytuuli were transferred to Arenso. Tahkoluoto Offshore wind farm, Finland\u2019s first offshore wind farm as well as the world\u2019s first offshore wind farm in frozen sea conditions, is currently operated by Arenso.
